Good QB: Brett Smith, Wyoming (vs. Hawaii)- Smith has had a rough couple of weeks playing Fresno State and Boise State back to back. He did not play well in either of those games but look for him to bounce back against an 0-10 Hawaii team who is way worse on the road than at home (if that’s possible for an 0-10 team).
Good QB: Garrett Gilbert, SMU (at South Florida)- SMU is turning it on at the right moment for fantasy owners, and the matchup they have this week is one that Gilbert owners should be marveling at. South Florida just got beat at home against a Memphis team that has a struggling quarterback. Look for Gilbert to have a fantastic game and is a must start for everyone. -Matt
Great QB: P.J. Walker, Temple (vs. Connecticut)- Walker has been doing some damage as of late and I expect him to continue his fine play against a winless Connecticut squad. Temple hasn’t been great this year but Walker has gotten into a rhythm as he has been finding the end zone with his passes. In the last three games, he has thrown 10 touchdown passes and UConn shouldn’t be a tough team to score on.
Great QB: Braxton Miller, Ohio State (at Indiana)- Braxton Miller and the Buckeyes are going into teams and have to just go crazy now in order to have a shot at the BCS Championship game. Because of this, Miller and the entire first string will be in almost the entire game. Because of this, Miller is a great start this week against a subpar Indiana defense. -Matt
Gamble QB: John O’Korn, Houston (vs. Cincinnati)- I don’t know why, but I really like Cincinnati defense. Statistically, the numbers back me up, but more in addition to that, I love the way they play. In addition to that, O’Korn has been on a tail-slide of sort for the past couple of weeks, and I think it will continue. Be careful if you are going to play him. -Matt
Good RB: Tim Cornett, UNLV (at Air Force)- Simply put, Air Force is terrible against the run. They are giving up 244 yards per game on the ground and Cornett is always a threat to run for plenty of yards. He should be able to top the 100 yard mark and find the end zone at least once.
Good RB: Zurlon Tipton, Central Michigan (vs. UMass)- Tipton is back from a broken ankle and has scored three times in the two games that he has played. He will be running against a Minutemen defense that is giving up 230 yards per game on the ground. Tipton may be a great flex play this week.
Great RB: Jeremy Hill, LSU (vs. Texas A&M)- Jeremy Hill has made some headlines recently, stating that he will leave to go pro after this year is completed, so you need to go ahead and use him as much as you can before the end of the season. Hill is dominating teams this year and going against a Texas A&M team that loves offense, this one has all the makings of a shootout. -Matt
Great RB: James Sims, Kansas (at Iowa State)- Kansas finally won a conference game last week, snapping a 27 game conference losing streak. Sims was a huge reason why rushing for 211 yards and three touchdowns. The cyclones are giving up 228 yards per game on the ground so Sims should be in line for another big day.
Gamble RB: David Cobb, Minnesota (vs. Wisconsin)- Cobb has been great, don’t get me wrong, but the Badgers have been pretty stingy against the run this season. They are ranked 7th in the nation in rushing defense giving up just 99 yards per contest. If Minnesota plans on winning this game, they will have to get Cobb going. I’m just not fully confident that they will. To me, he’s no more than a flex play this week.
Good WR: Jameon Lewis, Mississippi State (at Arkansas)- Lewis is a big playmaker for this offense and was held in check last week against Alabama. Look for him to get back to finding the end zone against a struggling Arkansas team.
Good WR: Tommy Shuler, Marshall (at Florida International)- Shuler is on a roll. No other way to put it. He is more than likely going to get at least a touchdown and have good yardage week in and week out now. Look for this week to be no different as Marshall travels down to Florida International. -Matt
Good WR: Allen Robinson, Penn State (vs. Nebraska)- Robinson is one of the best receivers in the country and Penn State gets to go up against a Nebraska team that loves to let people put points on the board. Look for Robinson to have a good week and get a decent amount of points. -Matt
Great WR: Odell Beckham/Jarvis Landry, LSU (vs. Texas A&M)- Basically, these two should absolutely thrash this Texas A&M defense. I’m not even sure they could stop anyone with an extra player on the field. Look for these two studs to both have big days. Oh yeah, Mettenberger may not be a bad play either.
Great WR: Mike Evans, Texas A&M (vs. LSU)- So Zach is going to go with LSU receivers bursting onto the scene? Well I am going to go with one. Just one. Mike Evans is going to have a heck of a game. I just feel it. It might not be the same caliber as the Alabama or Auburn game, but I just feel that the Manziel-Evans connection is going to be a deadly one this Saturday. -Matt
Gamble WR: Austin Franklin, New Mexico State (at Florida Atlantic)- I know many of you like Franklin and you should, but think twice this week as FAU has the nation’s 4th ranked defense against the pass only allowing teams to throw for 170 yards per game.
